Our Way of Being Together as a Volunteer Group
We are members of the local community and diners, as well as volunteers. Supper at the Sally is for everyone.
Whilst things may change in the future, we have evolved an identity as the Supper at the Sally team of volunteers this winter which seems to work for us.
As Volunteers, we are there firstly for our diners, but also for ourselves and for each other.
We aim to find ways to enable the Community suppers to be sustained for the longer term by continually growing the volunteer team and encouraging our diners to volunteer.
We are all volunteers and we respect each other and all our diners – we relate as whole human beings and recognise our shared humanity.
We interact freely across the group, sharing our thoughts, ideas, issues, ways of doing things and role descriptions
We all adopt various different roles at different times, and in so doing take on those role responsibilities for the duration of the role.
We have a flat structure (no hierarchy) amongst us. All necessary activities are seen as roles, not the prerogative of a particular volunteer.
Our roles are not straight- jackets - we help and support each other and work together flexibly
We learn as we go and experiment with improvements and address issues that occur
We celebrate our achievements
